The Pink Monster Photo Tour!

20 Apr

Finally the moment you have all been waiting for! First I want to explain a little why I dubbed it “The Pink Monster”. First and foremost, the house is Pepto pink. Well actually, now that I think about it, it’s really the color of calamine lotion. Sort of a dusty faded pink, but pink none the less. I call it a monster simply because compared to our previous dwellings, this house is HUGE! My first apartment was 850 sq ft and Brian’s first place was a studio. We have worked our way up from there but this place is double the size of our townhouse, at just around 3,000 sq ft and that doesn’t include the sq ft of the pool room.

A little history: The previous owner of this house was a very well respected individual who was quite savvy in business and even opened one of our city’s first sources for all natural supplements, foods, and all sorts of natural items. Kind of like a locally owned Whole Foods or Earth Fare. She loved unique art and surrounded herself with things that she loved no matter what others may have thought. As you will see in the photos, the property’s landscaping leaves a lot to be desired but only because the gardens and planters that were once well maintained by a loving hand have been neglected for well over 3 years. You see, the previous owner lost the battle against cancer a few years back. After she passed, the house stayed in the family and a few young boys moved in for an undisclosed amount of time. These boys were quite creative themselves completing a very small budget semi-reno to the kitchen using Oops paint and rubber mats. They left random debris and garbage all over the yard and let some seriously large dogs have their way with several doors and door frames. This once, very well maintained property has slowly become the second ugliest house on the street.

We intend clean it up, update it, and make it one of the nicest houses on the block because we have a vision of what it could be and this house has major potential! Enough with the chit chat and on with the tour!

(Please excuse some of the photo’s quality, some I took with my camera and some with my iPhone. Also note that most of these were taken before we bought the house. When we took possession, most of the “junk” inside the house had been removed.)

Garage/Yoga Room:

The garage has been converted into a yoga studio and, silly me, I forgot to get photos before we moved in. It’s full of boxes so it would be pointless to show you the mess. Once we get it cleared I will post a photo. We will be turning it back into a garage at some point.
